Nearly 20 years in education. 12 years in instructional design. Zero interest in the AI hype cycle.

I am a teacher and an instructional designer.
When generative AI dropped, I didn’t see a business opportunity; I saw a massive structural shift that was about to break traditional assessment overnight.
Suddenly, the fallback question for every educator became: "How do I know if my students actually wrote this?"
Schools panicked. They rushed to buy AI detection software that didn't work, locked down school networks, and inadvertently created an adversarial culture of suspicion in the classroom.
They were trying to solve a design problem with a policing tool.
I built the Assignment Makeover Method because the answer was never going to be better software detection. It had to be better assignment design.
When I’m not working on curriculum toolkits here at Assignment Makeover, I travel the country delivering keynotes and professional development workshops on generative AI.
I work closely with K-12 superintendents, university faculty, and school boards to navigate the broader organizational hurdles of this technological shift—including data safety, policy development, deepfakes, and managing staff technological anxiety.
